HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Holly Ridge Middle School leadership sent a letter to parents Thursday about a threat made against the school via voicemail.

The letter says the threat was left on the main school line.

“We take any and all potential threats to our school seriously,” the letter reads in part. “As soon as we were made aware of the message, we contacted WCPSS Security and the Holly Springs Police Department.

“They are investigating to evaluate the credibility of the threat.”

Holly Ridge Middle School has additional law enforcement on Thursday at the school’s campus, according to the letter.

“Please take this opportunity to remind your child that making a threat of causing physical harm of any kind at school is a serious offense,” the letter reads. “Students involved in making a threat will be disciplined in accordance with [Wake County Public School System] WCPSS policies.”

The school also said students or adults can always report safety concerns at 919-856-1911.
