HENDERSON, N.C. — Just before 10:30 Wednesday night, officers described more than 40 shots fired on North Clark Street in Henderson over radio traffic.

Police said a 67-year-old man has been released from the hospital after being shot in the abdomen.

“My neighbor got hit,” said Demario Crews, who lives next door. “They shot through his house … grazed him in the forehead and shot him in the side.”

Crews said he has lived in the neighborhood for roughly 15 years and has not experienced anything like that.

“All this happened so fast; good thing I was quick on my toes,” he said.

A 67-year-old man was shot in Henderson on Wednesday night.

Crews said he was walking to his car when the suspects started shooting. He described a total of five suspects: them of them driving in a dark-colored car and two on foot behind the houses.

“They came literally from the back of the house when I was walking outside. Then, I see another car coming down this way,” Crews said.

He said he believes the suspects were trying to shoot him, but he says he did not know the suspects and does not know why he would be a target.

At this time, no suspects have been arrested.

Members of the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigations Division are actively investigating the incident and following up on promising leads.
