'He literally saved my life': Man finds out he has colon cancer during accidental appointment

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and one man is sharing his story of battling the disease, and how a routine doctor’s appointment saved his life.

David Brantley says the key to beating the disease, is a simple screening.

Brantley went to see Dr. Joseph Payne who treats colorectal cancer for a Crohn’s Disease appointment; but when Dr. Payne listened to Brantley’s symptoms, the more he was convinced Brantley was dealing with more than one illness.

Ultimately, he was right, as doctors found signs of colon cancer.
