ANGIER, N.C. — A 19-year-old was killed Sunday in a shooting at a party in Angier.

At 1:47 a.m., multiple people called the Harnett County 911 Center to report shots fired in the area of 249 Sundowner Lane where there was an ongoing party. It was reported that there were as many as 100 people in attendance at one point.

When deputies arrived, they found 19-year-old Ashanti Monk, of Angier, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

During this time, the Harnett County 911 Center received an additional call that two people had arrived at Central Harnett Hospital with gunshot wounds. They were identified as 21-year-old Zaylen Dowd, of Fuquay-Varina, and 19-year-old Chassidy McDougald, of Dunn.

The family is holding a balloon release Thursday in Monk's memory at their home on S. Johnson Street in Angier. They're wearing purple, her favorite color.

"All I can really tell anybody, if you've never lost a sibling or a child, I don't think anybody wants to feel that pain," said sister Jada Monk. "It's not a good pain."

Investigators have not identified any suspect(s) at this time.
