about piratefan90

I don't care if the glass is half empty or half full-I'm just thankful to have a glass.

I haven't traveled as much as I would have liked, but of all the views i have seen I still like the ones from my own  windows the best!

I'm a fix-it kind of gal, whether the problem is hurt feelings or a broken tail-light, I'll give it my best shot. There's a good reason my nickname in college was "Miss Black and Decker".

I'm the mom of a great 15 yr. old. All in all, he's a pretty nice kid. At least he's not embarrassed to be seen with me in public-yet.

We have 3 dogs(all rescued), 3 cats, and 3 koi in the pond we put in over Easter break 2007.

I teach high school students, am actively involved with several sports, and try to do the very best I can every day with what I have to work with. Every parent sends me the best kid they have every day.

droppin in to say hello! ((HUGS))

hey, I must have 6-7 pirate t-shirts (not ECU). I am moving slowly now from my accident, but I will return (threat or a promise) as soon as I am able. Thanks for your interest...jack (and jackie)

you may absolutely quote me, don't even have to reference me. Remind them of how when they watch a scary movie (like Arachnophobia) they tend to look in the shower for spiders or feel that creepy feeling for a long time. It is an excellent illustration of the point.

HELLO!!!!!!

Wow. Sorry if I chuckle but to throw the desk down twice makes me smile. I have been there. I dont know why students want to write on desks, when you ask them to write on paper for a grade they cant seem to do it. I like the fact that your AP was on your side. And I am sure your have made your point - if nothing else than the students are beginning to believe you are psycho, and they will not want you to go "off" again. Last year I had a boy sit and refuse to do anything I ask, so I got frustrated and slammed the stool I was sitting in front of down on the floor. Hard enough to break the rungs in it. I didnt let it go though, so it didnt fly towards him. I kept the stool in class all year, and the students loved to sit on it. But it was rickety, and I know the students were reminded of my "power" every time they sat on it. Let me know how today goes...

That sounds great! I feel really encouraged about my students too. I graded their first test this weekend and I was happy with most of the results. I think I am reaching most of mine, even if it is early. Plus this is my second year teaching this subject, Eastern World, so I feel more comfortable in what I am doing. I am sorry you dont feel well, but I know what it means to not trust being out. Students never behave the way they should be, si like you i would prefer to be in class ill, than have them run amuck with me. Get well, and keep me posted.

Glad you saw that. Just wanted to make a point. School has been going well but for the wet weather making have to relocate. My students have been great so far. How bout your year?

my sympathies to that family. It is always hard when someone dies and it affects more than just that family.

Know that you touch the lives of your students in such positive ways, ways that they carry with them into their adult world, ways that they will pass on to others.

THANKS

now that is wonderful! For you to take the time to participate on what your students do. As a mother, I will tell you that means so very much to the students and to their parents. You'll never know how much that extra time means. An elderly lady that we picked up for church for a number of years passed away and my son's teacher actually took the time to come to the visitation, even though this lady wasn't blood related, she knew my son was hurting. Last year my youngest son invited his teacher to church and she came, even though she attends church she said she always tries to go to things when she can. Now she visits our church whenever she doesn't get up in time to make her service. Going that extra mile makes for a teacher that will never be forgotten and one that the children work harder for.

Thank you on behalf of parents everywhere
