Admiral, I just wanted to clarify that we have no problem with folks like you who have a legitimate reason for parking up close, that is what those spaces are for. BTW, my Daddy had that same problem with his legs, I know it's a tough disease. My wife has it too.
The ones that we are griping about are the ones who do not deserve to park there, they are just in a hurry or lazy, or both and deprive folks like you or my Daddy from their parking space.

Once they step out of the legal part of their assembly, then I hope the police use all of the force they have to ensure it is legal and safe for the innocent. If you are there and turn a legal assembly into a Mass Mob, then you do not have the right to assemble.

People are not addicted to fuel. They are addicted to their SUV's. I have an Excursion and two four cylinder trucks that I drive. The Excursion lugs 9 kids around and the two four cylinder trucks lug me around.
Until people are un-addicted to their SUV's - we can forget about energy independence. There is no IF's, AND'S or BUT's about it.

Two comments -
No I did not get any chlorine free. I did see that the caffene in one of the drinks, based on the serving size, is nearly 1200% more than a cup of coffee at 35 mg. Many doctors will agree that 5 cups of coffee a day is the max that you should take.
On the Global Warming issue - people are more interested in the alarmist attitude of Al Gore and the other whackos that have no evidence than the ones who are the stewards of the environment.
A perfect example was on the history channel last night who was saying that the permafrost on the globe keeps getting bigger. But those scientists will be discredited for junk science when they are on the front lines.
CFL's are bad - Mercury & Lead. They say trace amounts. But how many have to wind up in the landfill before it is an EPA supersite?

That is nice - sorry to hear - but since that story has been dropped - I have moved on with my life.
I hope that your deployment is short, and for god sakes, keep your head down.
I simply stated in an intrinsic fashion - there is not a story here.

Good points and while my intent was not humor I'm glad you saw some in it. I'm not sure what you mean by "not gonna happen" but my assumption is that you are saying we are not as a nation going to address the issue of oil dependency.
I still think the oil embargo was OPEC basically showing us they could bring us to our knees. Perhaps you are not old enough to recall the odd/even day rationing and gas lines of that era. It was a supply/demand issue not us trying to annoy OPEC.
Wouldn't all of us commuting in these so called matchboxes make sense while saving the SUVs for the family stuff? That in itself would cut demand significantly.
As for fuel efficiency and emissions. Surely cars in general are better at both of those but there are also countless more cars on the road that there were even 20 years ago.
Thanks
