I have the coolest title in the entire professional world.
I'm a meteorologist and weather producer in the WRAL-TV HD WeatherCenter.
"Weather producer" implies I can actually "produce" the "weather". I can't.
(But it still sounds cool.)
I am a geek and I went to engineering school. As they say, that explains a lot.
I enjoy weather of all kinds. I strive to understand its violence and power while not losing sight of its grace and beauty.
Beyond the weather itself, I am interested in how people get and "use" weather information. The best warnings and the most accurate forecasts are worthless if they aren't understood or acted upon.
In addition to being a meteorologist, I am a news junkie. Someone once said the best career is one where you get paid to do what you'd be doing anyway. So, I work in the weather center of a television newsroom.
I like to learn new things and share what little I already know with others. I've been told I'm a good storyteller, and I think that's cool.
Outside of my work life. I enjoy watching sports, especially college basketball, college football, and pro baseball at all levels.
I enjoy BBQ, and I find it painful that people argue about which kind is best. Properly prepared, it is all good.
I love to travel and especially to fly. It is a goal to learn to fly myself.
I am married to a beautiful and wonderfully patient woman. We have a dog and two cats. (Rather, the cats have us.)
Speaking of the dog, I had my dog longer than I've known nearly everyone I know.

And to answer your recent blogpost, I was outside part of the afternoon in short-sleeves blowing leaves to the street. It's not very often that I can be out there dressed like I was and not get eaten up by biting mosq's. Was a very nice day indeed. Had to hit up a Christmas party for work this evening, and that was fun too. Anyway, glad you're active in Golo. Pm me anytime.
