about allison842
I'll try to let my posts speak for themselves.
But you'll generally find that I'm a big Tar Heel fan and received my Bachelor's degree from there. I also got a Master's from Clemson University, but I have zero allegiances to them!
I lean, albeit heavily, to the left side of things -- which in my opinion is fairness, equality, and opportunity. I like to discuss, but I don't like to spar. There's already enough hatred in the world.
Since the "Favorites" section does not provide a place for favorite books, I'll do it here: _Look Homeward, Angel_ by Thomas Wolfe, _Tristram Shandy_ by Laurence Sterne and _Lancelot_ by Walker Percy
Feel free to leave me a comment, and have a great day!

Despite your youth, you consistently display more wisdom and thoughtfulness than most who post here (I hope your UNC education contributed to that)and your blogs are always interesting and thought provoking.
BTW, I have been married for 36 years, and never had a marriage license. We were married in Switzerland in 1972, by the Registrar of the city of Basel, a delightful woman who would have been far ahead of her time had she been in America. In Switzerland, not so much.
I don't feel less married or committed because I wasn't married in a church or have a license to show for it.

I have to say I'm torn on the subject. Never been married, but have been with BF for 19 years. He is divorced after a short marriage, doesn't seem inclined to do it again! although he's been beside me through thick and thin. I feel angry that we cannot get the benefits (health care, etc.). Gay marriage wouldn't bother me, as they seem more eager to accept the commitment than straight folks. I've even heard the term "starter marriage" applied to heteros as though it was some fad or ritual that must be indulged in but ultimately discarded.
Again, thanks for the blog. BTW, I'm Susan.
