mandatory community service? - no, you are misinformed
Published Nov. 7, 2008THE NEXT LINE IS WITHDRAWN (BUT LEFT TO MAKE THE BLOG COMMENTS MAKE SENSE) - APOLOGIES TO LOCAL.
local know it all's blog either reveals lack of self-proclaimed total knowledge, misrepresentation OR BOTH.
START HERE:
The evidence? How about the fact that the link provided doesn't say what the blog claims it does. Here's what it says as of 8:50pm:
Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year and by developing a plan so that all college students who conduct 100 hours of community service receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start.
Let's dissect:
by setting a goal that all middle school and high school students do 50 hours of community service
Nothing mandatory here. It's a goal. Not a requirement.
all college students who conduct 100 hoursIt says who - nothing about must.
receive a universal and fully refundable tax credit ensuring that the first $4,000 of their college education is completely free.
i.e., you get paid. Seems fair. Help the country, we'll reward you.
All of this is consistent with the Obama campaign website that stated throughout the election campaign:
Obama and Biden will set a goal that all middle and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year, and will establish a new tax credit that is worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year.
A $4,000 tax credit in exchange for community service - this is not involuntary servitude.

In case you don't know, you can write your charitable donations ($$$) off on your taxes and thereby receive a tax rebate.
As I see it, this is a great way to encourage people to donate their TIME to a charitable cause instead of those that only donate their money...
'IF' this goes into effect... I will be sure to take full advantage to benefit my community and my bank account...

Well we know that's baloney because we know some of them signed to go into Iraq and some of them signed the financial bailout plan.
But I know what you mean.
Pilosi is a liar; but it's Bush's fault.
God bless.

I maintain, though, that there was misinformation but caused by the change of the text on the change.gov website.
My primary point is that the Service plan has been portrayed as an out-of-the-blue sleight-of-hand by Obama. I have seen multiple posts to that effect here.
During the campaign, a couple of blogs were posted concerned with Obama's service and defense plans. I read the Obama campaign's website thoroughly to understand what these plans entailed. So, upon seeing the recent blogs about "servitude" etc, I, too, was irritated since it was wrong to paint the Service plan as new. Anyone who informed themselves by reading both Obama's and McCain's websites would have known this.
I suspect in the rush of the moment, a poorly paid Obama worker messed up.
Apologies again.
Have a good evening.

Yep blame it on the bush and republicans, while I sit back and LMAO at what is coming next. I'm so excited to learn that not one democrat every signed a bill since the Bush has been in office. Thanks I didn't know that. Have a good evening. JM I'll try your second web in a minute it wouldn't come up at first but I'm had a hard week and I'm outta here.

Can't you just highlight everything, hit [Ctrl][C] for copy, then come here or open an empty Word Doc and hit [Ctrl][V] for paste and do it that way?
That's how I do it.
But be sure to go back and get the link you got it from too, to protect from copyright problems.
God bless.

First of all, children do not have freedom of any kind; they are wards of their parents or guardians.
Secondly, if it saved the life of at least one infant or toddler, wouldn't it be worth it?
God bless.

Oh, and I have to ask if you realize what you say in the blog is false or are you simply misinformed?
