god bless america

Published Nov. 5, 2008

Okay, so we've all agreed to disagree during this campaign.  We have a winner now. We have our answering machines back, we have our commercials back, we have our 'inboxes" back, and we have our snail mail boxes back.

It's over now.  Can't we all just get along?  We're not a country of libs vs cons, Reps vs. Dems, good vs evil...we are Americans with a voice; with the priviledge of exercising that voice.

As an idealist, I ask, please, can't we mend our fences and go forward as a united nation....(Maybe one nation under God? <obviously not my term, but a really good one...>)

United we stand, y'all.....

Ok I am new here so forgive me if I am slow! But as was stated in the blog, lets get past this and on with our lives. I didn't support or vote for the President elect, but he has been elected by the people. Just because you don't like the man, what his ideals are or what he says he will do when he is elected,(you know they hardly ever hold true to what they say),he has been elected. The best thing to do now is support him and hope that things improve! By no means is any president perfect! After all he is just another human being. Thank you

“...even so was rejected because of bad allergies. I was rejected on 12 September 2001 because of my age. “ - Steve Crisp

Which branch(es) did you sign up and get rejected by?

" I can't bring myself to visit that d4mn wall." Doesn't sound to me as if you even need to see the wall.. you carry images in your heart of that war, and of what it did to people you cared about. My husband finally got the nerve to go see the wall - it was (after all torment we went through) just a wall, for him if did not help start any magic healing process. But - the statue to the nurses of VNam - well that was a different story. That statue brought back a lot of memories, and led to a long treacherous path of 'getting past' all the things he had lived with for many, many years. (the military does not teach their soldiers how to deal with life after a war) Don't worry about the wall - try to see the statue in honor of the nurses, they are holding a wounded soldier and you can see they are protecting him with liefs. It was their selflessness that my husband was grateful for, not just for him, but for all the soldiers they helped.

I have voted Republican. I have voted Democrat. I have been saddened and proud of each. Of Obama, I am just scared. You all elected him. I will not be celebrating. I am just scared that the less qualified man is now in charge. In name, he is my president. In spirit, he is not. God us help all. sst100

DITTO!

I think everyone has gone to bed, but you know, it seems perfectly fine to me, as a vet, to vote for a candidate that you think will end a war!! Heck, it seems like the SMART thing to do. This is one of the reasons we have elections, and this one was clear...100 more years in the middle east, get out now...that is a no brainer to me.

Good night ya'all.

That last emotional outburst wore me out.

Little does that anymore except, well...never mind.

Good night.

God bless.

Rev. RB

Wow, y'all...I love you guys..Really, I do...I think we're all subject to an emotionally charged evening...both in the positive and negative...and I don't mean any harm...really. I can see and understand everyone's opinion. I just don't want to see anyone attacked. (yes, and I'm guilty, too...) I'm usually the peace-keeper and I jumped right in it, too, and that isn't like me at all. I think I prolly need to head to bed...It's been a long day, all the way 'round.

G'night, you guys...

jules, sorry for allowing myself to get off-track on your blog. However, I have decided that when certain people want to start with their snarky little attacks, I'm taking it right back to them. I'll try to keep it off your blogs, in the future.

Sorry, but obviously Vietnam is a sensitive subject for me.

I lost more friends than I know even now because I can't bring myself to visit that d4mn wall. I can't even stand to see a picture or painting of the d4mn thing. I'm not sure I ever will.

Sorry!

God bless.

Rev. RB

Jules:

I have absolutely no issue with jbunny being concerned; I would expect for her to be as his wife. What I DO take issue with is her statement that her and her husband's vote for the Obamination was specifically to end the war so that her husband could come home. That is elevating self-interest well above any consideration for national security, public policy, or the duty he voluntarily elected to serve.

And no, I did not serve. I was too young for Vietnam and even so was rejected because of bad allergies. I was rejected on 12 September 2001 because of my age. Had they accepted me, though, I would have willingly and with honor served my country in any capacity they wanted me to without grumbling, grousing, or remorse.
