Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made a pit stop in West Virginia on her way to battleground state Ohio. By The Associated Press
KENOVA, W.Va. -- Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made a pit stop in West Virginia on her way to battleground state Ohio.
The Alaska governor and her family spent about 25 minutes in the state Sunday as their two-engine plane touched down at Tri-State Airport in Kenova. She made no remarks.
About a dozen supporters greeted Palin as she left the aircraft holding her infant son, Trig. Other members of her family were traveling with her.
A small group of protesters also was on hand as the Palins arrived.
After the brief stop, Palin and her political entourage boarded a bus and headed to the Ohio campaign rally accompanied by a motorcade.
GOP Presidential candidate John McCain and Palin are due in Virginia Monday for a rally.

So West Virginia, ( a GWB stronghold since 2000 ) isn't worthy of a campaign rally? They are 8 points down in the polls there, and clearly have decided to let WV go so they can try to battle for Ohio's 20 electoral votes. Ohio is a historical bellwether state for the GOP. They must win there, but are currently down by 3 points in recent polls.
Note - blogger and former WV resident Viol8r pointed out that WV has not been a perennial GOP state, although they have been red since the 2000 election. Correction made. The point of the blog remains, however.

Hey there all you WV jokesters, figure this; if it weren't for WV (formerly, VA), none of you Cakalackians would have any genetic power at all. Even Cary has a trailer park or two with an uncle papaw or brother-in-law nephew.

Kenova is where the airport for Huntington is located. It's like saying Morrisville and Raleigh.

Look for his campaign to pull back hard on the stick. McCain is (personally) going to distance himself from the personal attacks. My question is: will his advertising do the same? I doubt it. I expect he will be acting honorably but his campaign spending will probably stay negative. I hope I'm wrong.
