attorney: marine fighting extradition from mexico
Published Oct. 12, 2008Jacksonville, N.C. — The attorney for a Marine accused of killing a pregnant colleague said his client is fighting extradition to the United States.
Dick McNeil said that Cpl. Cesar Laurean, 21, has filed an extradition appeal in a Mexican court.
In September, North Carolina officials said a Mexican court approved returning Laurean to the U.S.
Laurean is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach. The 20-year-old from Vandalia, Ohio, was eight months pregnant when she was killed late last year.
Her remains were found in Laurean's back yard near Camp Lejeune, where both Marines served as clerks.
Laurean was arrested in Mexico in April.

Figures! Kills a woman he was accused of raping and impregnating and THEIR unborn child, and leaves his wife and children behind to face his sins.
He's nothing but a coward, and I pray for all of those whom he has hurt.

Umm sorry - basic world government history lesson is in order here:
The US State Department is an arm of the executive branch - it cannot tell a state how to govern. Personally, I would to the mehico government with fingers crossed behind my back "oh scouts honor, we promise, yep you got our word---Opps! we lied...now about all those white vans with ladders on them, can we talk about that a little" ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ next...

We need to go back and read the historical material on the case. Her own statements to the investigators established that the sex between them was consensual and that she did not feel threatened by him. She also recanted her accusation that he was the father of her child.
We'll never know all of the details of why she was pursuing rape charges against him anyway. The article 13 hearing would have been informative in that regard.
I accept that he killed her, but I don't believe she was entirely innocent in all this either, and there's much more to what went on between the two of them than has been told. My gut tells me that she wanted him to leave his wife, and when he wouldn't, she went after him.

She reported being raped by him. Am not sure why she then went to his house to get murdered, but stranger things have happened.
God bless.

that bothers me... a lot. That woman was NOT his girlfriend. She was victimized twice by that piece of work. I agree... I hope someone in a prison/jail takes care of him.

Officially, they can't because to do so would strain the country's international relationships with Mexico, not that they're great with all the illegals coming in.
But were Onslow County to try, the US State Department would step in and deny them the ability.
Still...I wish the guy would fry; he's no Marine, he's an inhuman coward.
God bless.
