401k takes a hit!

How bad of a hit to your 401k have you taken?
I checked on mine this morning and it's down about 3000.00 in the last 45 days!
Any horror stories out there?

He does kind of have a point, though. Investors who aren't within five years of retirement who convert paper losses into real ones because they're frightened and panicking rather than thinking through their investment decisions deserve the fleecing they get.
I've had more than a few friends flee from stocks recently because they were scared that the prices were going even lower. It didn't matter that the "losses" were only on paper and they weren't near retirement...they had to get out NOW!
Quite a few lost their shirts...and for no reason. A couple will be barred from trading back in due to excessive trade activity so when the market eventually heads back up, they'll be missing that boat as well.
Investing means being in it for the LONG HAUL and not panicking just because of the occasional recession or crashing of the Dow.

Is it really your intention to try and make everyone else here who have lost hard earned money feel stupid or something. I hope thats not the case.

Hey, can't retire until I'm 75 anyway to support the Baby Boomers, so might as well ride it out.
