traffic alert: ncsu homecoming parade
by Brian ShraderPublished Oct. 3, 2008
Expect delays in west Raleigh this evening, as NCSU's homecoming parade gets underway. Here's a note from NCSU:
The Raleigh Police Department and University Police will close the portion of Hillsborough Street affected by the Parade Route at approximately 5:45 p.m. - depending on the progress of the Parade floats. (The Parade will travel from Sullivan Lot, Thurman Drive, Hillsborough Street, Wautaga Club Drive, Pullen Road, Cates Avenue, Dan Allen Drive (north)to Thurman Drive to the parking lot. There is a map on the website). Western Boulevard traffic will also be affected byt the temporary closure of Dan Allen Drive.
You may want to plan your exit from campus prior to this time and/or avoid the Parade route. (Also, if you are carpooling and normally picked up along Hillsborough Street, you may want to arrange your pickup at another location - Hillsborough Square Lot - Oberlin Road - as cars will not be allowed on Hillsborough/Pullen/Cates Avenue during Parade time). Cates Avenue will be temporarily WESTBOUND only until the Parade passes.
Transit Riders
Wolfline will temporarily cease operations at 5 p.m. and resume service after the Parade. Check the TVS for exact bus locations http://ncsu.transloc-inc.com/ CAT and TTA riders should view Parade-related detours/information at www.gotriangle.org
