frustrating
Published Aug. 5, 2008Was supposed to have my MRI reading yesterday. Appointment was for 2:20. I got there five minutes early [it's a miracle I did, trust me]. Got waved in, nurse took my blood pressure which was slightly higher than normal...probably because they have CNN on in the lobby [KIDDING lol]. Nurse says 'he'll be in in a few minutes.'
Thirty minutes later, the nurse comes back in to replenish their stock of examination gowns. I asked her what time it was and she goes 'Why? Do you have somewhere else to be?' She sounded a little put out. Told her I was on my lunch break. It was 2:50, she said. She said she'd tell Dr. Singh I was on my lunch break and that it would only be a few minutes more.
Now this whole time between me sitting down and him coming in, I can hear him out there talking to another patient and she's older and wants to know everything...so I cut him a little slack in that department, but her whole ordeal with him only lasted about five minutes before I heard him tell her goodbye and heard her walker creaking on down towards the lobby.
Finally...FINALLY he shows up and goes 'well, do you have your films?'
My HUH?! I said no, the tech at wakemed walked me out to the parking lot and told me to go home...was I supposed to GET films!? And he said 'Well yeah, so I can show you what I'm seeing.'
Well great, fantastic, fabulous, wonderful...nobody told me this.
He seemed a little annoyed that I was annoyed at him taking so long to see me. Basically he was like 'well what I'm seeing is that you have a disc herniation between c-5 and c-6.'
And then I really got annoyed because this whole FREAKING TIME he's been telling me it's between c-4 and c-5. He even showed it to me on the xray...and I counted.
WHAT THE BLANKETY BLANK!?!
He said he could do an injection if I wanted him to, that it would feel better...but I don't really feel confident enough in this guy anymore to invest the time OR the money in that crap. I AM in pain, but it's manageable.
He said if he saw me again in two months, it would probably be all better...but there was also a risk of it coming back so I would be in the same kind of pain I was in before I got treatment.
Three minutes of annoyed doctor consult...without even getting to see my MRI...thirty five minutes of sitting around waiting for him to come in and tell me that I have the option of an injection to get rid of the pain but really there is nothing else he can do...and I had to pay thirty freaking bucks.
Plus I was twenty minutes late back to work.
The pain is worse this morning. I still don't have full range of motion in my neck.
I just don't know what to do anymore.

I've never paid, they give a CD and I take it to the next doctor.

all i asked for was to be referred to an orthopedic, this takes, what? 5 seconds to do ???????????? i KNEW my knee was gone but she seemed determined for me to go in for what ? I am INJURED, i do not have the flu, a simple phone call to my ortho doc, which she did before in the past, would have sufficed, and she wanted me to go in to tell me something i already knew? Cha right ! i was injured and could not wait 2 WEEKS to be told something i already knew. :)

Turns out they misread the scan (THANKFULLY) and made me worry over nothing. I let the doc know what they told me and he understood why I had called in panic.
Usually you have to PAY if you want your own copy of a film.

That aside, you can change doctors, as one poster suggested and Wake or Cary Ortho are pretty good.
