springer why?

Published Jul. 6, 2008

Can someone explain why they watch Jerry Springer and similar shows?  How about the "court" shows?  What's the fascination?  Frankly, I have to question the mentality of those who habitually watch them.  It's like wallowing in a cess pool, seems to me.  Just my opinion, understand.  But I do often wonder about it...

When I was on the street, there was nothing more enjoyable than an hour of mind numbing fun watching Jerry.

no mark a lot of think this.

Most of TV is embarrassingly bad...Springer is its poster child.

People like Springer because his show is Sintertainment. People love sinful shows. Sex and sin sells.

I remember many many years ago when Maury Povich had an interesting show -- Jack Hannah would be on there quite often. Now, on any given day of the week, you can flip to his show and its ALWAYS a "paternity test results," "who da baby daddy part 8," or stuff like that. Every once in a while, though, there'll be a kid's talent show or caught on tape crimes episode.

Springer is terrrible, and now that Stern is off cable, Springer is the worst I see. I've watched just enough to know. It is faked and exaggerated. Maury is terrible too.

The court shows are there so we can see someone TAKE CONTROL of people's problems. People want to think someone is above it all and in control.

Mother in law just loves divorce court; hoping for wifey and me to be the star attraction I guess

IF Miami ever manages to get airtime on tv during the football season (and I mean the Phinz, not the college football teams) I will watch it. I am hoping to witness a once in a lifetime win from them. :P My lifetime, I mean. I know they won some back in the days of Dan the man. But, I was too young and too girly to care about it then. :P I don't think I even knew what football was. Other than that, the only team I would watch on tv would be the Panthers and it would have to be the Super Bowl. I used to actually have year round tickets to see the Dolphins. O.o What a waste of money. I got more entertainment watching the drunks fall off their seats. And I was in a NO drinking section for family! The tailgate cookouts were fun though. You know a diehard fan when they actually continue to support their team when they don't have a snowballs chance of winning. :|

I will watch Jerry (not more than 5 min at a time) for the pure enjoyment of watching people make an hiney of themselves. It HAS to be staged.. normal people don't air their dirty laundry like that, not even trailor trash!! As for court shows- I watched them during the summer when I was in HS. It was once again for entertainment purposes. I haven't watched one of those in YEARS!!!

Have not been to a race in a while. WIll NOT watch one on TV. It is just different being there. My favorite short track is Bristol and long is Talladega.
