Okay ya'll...

I'm considering moving to southern Nash county for the schools. I can't afford Cary or Wake. I'm waiting to hear about a job at Wake med (they are checking my references). I have two questions...#1. Anyone know why I shouldn't put my kids in southern nash and #2 Anyone know where I can rent something decent but affordable until I sell my house here in Sanford. (Yeah, I know it's gonna be a while before it sells...probably until after the election). I have a friend in Middlesex whose address I can use to get the kids in school until the move is finalized...but I need somewhere to live for a bit until then...any ideas?

Have you considered moving to a smaller community such as Sharpsburg, Bailey, or even moving to the southern side of Rocky Mount? You might be able to find more affordable rents in those locations.

They would be in Lee county schools if I didn't move. They were going to Lee Christian, but they have both begged me to go to a public school, and now that I am divorced I cannot afford the private school any more anyhow. I have lived here for 8 years, and I know these are not good or safe schools. My kids's friends are WAYYYY behind them in vocabulary and world issues, so I can imagine what their reading and math scores are. Plus, I checked out Southern Nash on greatschools.com..they look pretty good...

You could transfer from county to county. There MAY be a fee, and you have to provide transportation. Is the school you want to transfer to better than the one you are leaving?

First of all-- consider the fact that most schools do the best they can with the students they get. A good student will learn whether they have a good teacher or not. If you went to college you will understand that it is up to you to do what is expected-- but true some teachers are better than others. But then some students are better than others. Apples dont fall far from the tree-- if your child is respectful and he has been taught to behave they will do well in school unless they have a learning disability. There are many wonderful hard working dedicated teachers in every school. I have 2 grandchildren in Wake county schools and both of them are always on the honor roll. You cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear!

I have a house in middlesex... that I could rent out, but the rent would be around $1100... of course, the house is 2300 sq ft, w/swingset and hottub...
