black people- why??

Published Jul. 3, 2008

It was only a matter of time before this would happen and it has. Its bad enough a black person born in America wants to be addressed as an "African-American". Grant it, a vast majority of these "African- Americans" have never actually been to Africa- and I doubt would like it if sent there tomorrow. But now the national anthem has been changed by blacks- for blacks.. ???

Blacks like Jessy, Al and so on-and so on, like to cry racism every chance they get..  But when will these people realize- they are creating racism. Blacks are the only race that have things that cater DIRECTLY to them. From BET, Jet, Ebony, Sista to Sista, the NAACP, the UNCF and now the National Anthem. Heck there is even theme parks that give discounts to blacks during Black history month. Do whites get these same discounts?-- nahhh. When will they realize they are the true racist here seperating themselves from others willingly. They are AMERICANS and therefore need to act like it. If they want their own country- go to ----edit---perhaps I should have used Congo, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Sao Tome and Principe where war and starvation run rampant---edit--- and see what living in a African country is really like.

here is the "BLACK" national anthem.. enjoy..

The basic problem with race is that all of us (black, white, whatever) still think it's important enough to have an argument about.

Honestly speaking, it probably should be irrelevant.

Did some reading on this tune "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" As Ordinary Citizen said it was written in 1900. It is not set to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner, as was reported on some TV news. But in 1990 it was entered into the congressional record as the "Black National Anthem". I had no idea.

Sorry; I'm just not big on "If" statements and "would, could, and should" used as if we're supposed to accept it as a valid point.

I think that we are the only country that does this because I remember seeing a documentary about Russia and they consider any and everybody born there Russian first and foremost. It was about Russians who were black and they asked about discrimination and they were saying that it was not really because all their people are considered Russian first and there that cuts down on that. This was several years ago and I don't know if it is still like that now or not.

I believe if you were born here or even become a citizen the right and legal way you are American. All this hyphenated junk is just that. If we quite trying to segragate ourselve by hyphenating every ethnicity and trying to force differences we might be able to get along better.

If I were Italian and I moved to Greece, would I call myself an Italian Greek?? Are we the only country that does this?

Has it been tried... or is that just your opinion?

That's silly...come on now! If that were done, jesse and al would be all over it. And on top of that, you better beleive that it probably make headline news too! I've read just about every post here, and I think that the jist of what others think is that a white man couldn't do that. start a magzine, tv station, clothing line, etc. without incurring any problems, and hatred for it. Let's be honest. They couldn't. And I think that bothers alot of folks, white and black alike. Yes, there are magazines, BET, fubu and so on. And it is a someones choice to buy or walk past it. But if there were an item, clothing, tv, etc. clearly meant for whites. It would draw critisism, and cause alot of problems.

But at the same time, one might just think that it's one's choice to buy or simply walk by it.

Also, if you remember to the boots or shoes Doc Maartens (spelling may be off) but for a long time those boots and shoes where associated with Neo Nazis and skinheads. But soon everybody was wearing them, so it is a choice not something that seperates. From the way I see it, you can wear anything you want to wear as long as you got the money to pay for it and it is something that you want to wear.

Oh boy, well first of all these freebies that everyone is talking about, where are they? Blacks don't get all the priviledges that many white folks have been "falsely told" Are themes parks even open during February? Where do you all get your information from? Also, please stop putting blacks all in one group thinking that all of us think the same way because we no more think and agree on the same things than you and other whites. This is where most folks get mad about this because you assume a great deal about people just because they happen to be black. Don't continue to always put me under a microscope to see why "I" am doing this or doing that. Look at the individual and see why they do it. Just like when I ride down the street and I see a white women who may or may not be on drugs or whatever and selling herself in the middle of the hood, I don't judge all white women by her, I look at the individual and wondering why is "she" where she is and doing what "she" is doing. Okay...

'I think it is clear blacks sold fellow blacks and even used them as their own slaves..'

I think they still do.

secondly: I don't refer to anyone born in this country as a 'hyphenated-American' that's reserved for legal immigrants.

"- I could copy and past even more- but I think it is clear blacks sold fellow blacks and even used them as their own slaves.. without Dutch help"

You've made mention of this several times. Are you trying to infer that slavery in america was "blacks" own fault?
