save me from my mother in law
Published Jun. 4, 2008Hubby was in the middle of those tornados that hit in Indiana last night so he asked me to call his mom and tell her he is okay. I call this morning and she starts nagging saying she hopes now we will take tornados more seriously and leave our trailer if there is one spoted. I explain to her being on the road is NO safer than staying put. Your car is the worst place to be. She keeps insisting the trailer is worse and I of course quit talking about it and just listen. UGGHHHH.. WHY does she nag me?? He is her son, nag him. Leave me out of it.

JustCrazy2 - You didn't ask, so I'm on thin ice here I know, but I'd like to encourage you (if you haven't already) to be sure you and your future husband get on the same page regarding his mother. When my wife and I first married our first few years had unnecessary strain b/c I discounted my mother's interference. My wife didn't like it but to me it's how my mom had always been, which was true. What I didn't realize then was that how my mom had always been needed to change now that I was married. It took me several years before a pastor came into my life and "brought it home" to me. Bit by bit I began to "get it" and when I did I felt so empowered to care for my family like I had wanted to.
That single ingredient of parental interference in my life was screwing up a lot of other areas in my life I wasn't even aware of.
When God said, "...a man shall leave his father and mother and become one with his wife..." it was for a reason.

If I let my mother have her way she'd be in the middle of everything in my life.
I only have room in my home for one woman. If my mother can't handle that, she can take a flying leap... I choose my wife!
