IDon'tCare, I did know about the units comprised of blacks that fought in the Civil War and you are right, one doesn't read much about that either but since the article seemed to be have a certain slant I thought I would bring out that there were a number of whites that gave their lives, which is the ultimate sacrifice, to free the slaves, and this fact seems to be forgotten when certain elements want to start assigning blame and yelling racism.

NCMOMOF3: You are so right! Also, there were 186,097 Blacks fighting in the Civil War, within 163 units, comprised of both free and runaway slaves (Union Army only). You'll never hear about that either, but it's some interesting stories about their contribution. Maybe you could look it up sometime to expand your knowledge of the subject matter.

hey, my heritage is so mixed up I never know which side of the race argument I'm supposed to come down on so I chose the commone sense side. The NAACP seems to me to have nothing but an agenda of stirring up hate. With organizations like that, how will we ever have peace among us? Read the history books. Blacks were not the first race to be enslaved and won't be the last. Americans were not the first race to enslave people and are not the last as slavery is going strong now in many parts of the world. During the Civil War over 500,000 white men were killed fighting to free the slaves, that's 1 white man for every slave freed. But organizations like the NAACP don't want facts like that to be publicized. It's much easier to incite hate, division, and racism. I wish more people would research history instead of believing what they are told.

Come on you guys don't bash her for her grammar skills everyone cant be as prim and proper as us you know just because we use periods and commas doesnt mean that everyone should you guys come on you know you still understood what she was trying to say I think I could go for some chips or something right about now man I wish it was time to go home
