bob barr to affect presidential election?
Published May. 16, 2008http://www.newsweek.com/id/136847
Will John McCain have trouble rallying conservatives to his cause in November? That calculus may have gotten a little trickier with Bob Barr's entry into the race. Barr, a former Republican congressman from Georgia, announced on Monday that he is seeking the Libertarian Party's nomination for the presidency—raising the prospect that he could become the Ralph Nader of the right.
Barr, who served in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003, was best known for his leading role in the 1998 impeachment effort against President Bill Clinton; he was one of the most conservative members on Capitol Hill. But in 2006 Barr exited his party and became a Libertarian, strongly criticizing President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and the government's infringement on social liberties.
Later this month Barr will join 13 other Libertarian candidates, including Democrat turned Libertarian Mike Gravel, at the party's convention in Denver, Colo. Libertarian leaders expect Barr to be the top vote-getter among the assembled delegates. Critics rushed to denounce Barr as a spoiler, likely to siphon votes from McCain, who is already thought to have a wobbly relationship with the conservative wing of the GOP. Barr rejects the spoiler label and insists he's "in it to win it."

By the way, I think your own insecurity is showing."
lol. Whatever gets you through the night.
But wisdom is born of passion - not from waiting to see which way the wind blows.
Liberals are misguided and dangerous, but at least they have principles.
That puts them a step above "moderates" in my mind.

And do you really think George Washington was taking the political "middle ground" in the war with England? Do you think he should have compromised like the "moderates" of the time believed?
FYI - moderates are nothing but democrats who are ashamed of their own party. You can claim to be "principled", but at the end of the day you are nothing but reeds in the wind, afraid to take a stand on anything until they know what the "majority" believes.
You are like insecure high school girls.
Grown up and get a pair.

But hey, it's a great prologue for a book on "Great Moderates in World History". Hmm, that might be a short one. How 'bout "Military Successes of Moderate Generals". No, dang it, even shorter.
"Top Ten Moderate Accomplishments"? Whew. This is harder than I thought.

We respect the rule of law, and believe that nobody, not even our president, is above that law. We believe our founding fathers were wise to adopt a constitution that provided checks and balances to prevent tyranny by the majority and to protect the rights of those who find themselves from time to time in the minority.
We believe conservative values are important to the success of this great country. We believe liberal values are important to the success of this great country.
Just to name a few.
