Some Sweet 16 Online Reading

CHAPEL HILL — UNC fans are no doubt excited about their game tomorrow night against Washington State as  their Tar Heels continue down the Road to the Final Four.  Already, there are plenty of folks wearing their Carolina colors to work, many have their flags mounted on their cars and in my neighborhood, lots of UNC flags are hanging from folks' houses.  They're excited, and they should be.  There are very few things in sports as exciting as watching your team march towards a possible national championship.
The folks here at WRAL are doing a great job of covering the team on the air and on this site, but I thought I would take a minute to post some of my favorite UNC-oriented web sites for you folks to take a look at if you're interested:

This site is written by a friend of mine who I met when he and I did an appearance on the air at a local sports radio station.  THF is a superb writer, and he does an excellent job with his blog.  The time you spend on his site is time well spent.

Another excellent site covering the Heels, on written by a UNC graduate and attorney.

Here's a rather in-depth site that takes a look at the Heels from almost every direction.

I love the name of this web site, and enjoy reading it too.

Note that none of these sites are "official" sites and that the opinions expressed on each one of them are their own.  With almost all of them, you can register and comment on articles and get into some pretty good discussions with other fans.

There are lots of other good UNC sites, but I'll leave it to you to explore and find them.  You can find them pretty easily because the good ones tend to link to one another on their front pages.

Also, you be sure that none of these guys are "losers sitting in their mother's basement in their underwear" -- a derisive cliche that seems popular with some mainstream sports commentators who love to ride down blogs -- probably because they don't like the competition.    There is a lot of great writing (that's also family friendly) out there for fans of any of the local schools, UNC, State and Duke and other schools as well.   After all of the NCAA hoopla is said and done, I will post another article focusing on NC State oriented blogs - and there as many good Wolfpack ones out there as there are Tar Heel ones.
