bush urges econ action, iraq patience

Published Jan. 28, 2008

George W. Bush is the worst President ever! Why wasn't all of this talk put to action seven years ago?    He has started this mess that he can't get out of and leaving it in the hands of our next President (Obama) to straighten out. It's going to take even longer for our nation to get back to normal.

Picture: Donald Rumsfeld, then special US envoy, shaking hands with Saddam Hussein during a visit to Iraq in December, 1983. US intelligence helped Saddam’s Ba`ath Party seize power for the first time in 1963. Evidence suggests that Saddam was on the CIA payroll as early as 1959, when he participated in a failed assassination attempt against Iraqi strongman Abd al-Karim Qassem. In the 1980s, the US and Britain backed Saddam in the war against Iran, giving Iraq arms, money, satellite intelligence, and even chemical & bio-weapon precursors. As many as 90 US military advisors supported Iraqi forces and helped pick targets for Iraqi air and missile attacks.

This caught my eye right off with rumfield up there shaking all hands. I will be reading on this and I also noticed this as a global policy fouom which is neat. I don't know much on global policieis and these sites will help. I knew we had dealing with him but I never knew he was on our cia payroll. Makes you wonder

"Give it up Elcid. You'll never convince ladyblue or tmedlin, no matter how much logic and reason you use."

Ladyblue has a genuine interest in learning. We don't always agree, but when we don't it's because she has legitimate reasons for it, and I can respect that.

As far as medlin is concerned, my goal have never been to convince her of anything. It's always been to prevent her from convincing OTHERS unless she tells the whole story in trying to do so.

Thanks--My biggest thing of not understanding Bush was why he kept that man in charge so long when even the troops didn't like him. He wasted a lot of years and resources including wasted lives with our soldiers. Ive printed these ssites down to rad . thanks again.

Read these, LB:

They're pretty informative and concise.

oops, I stand corrected on ladyblue.

Give it up Elcid. You'll never convince ladyblue or tmedlin, no matter how much logic and reason you use.

el cid are you serious---Who conducted those negotiations, you ask? Donald Rumsfeld----No wonder he carried this war on a wild goose chase for years. He didn't want to hurt his comrades. LOL Learn something everyday. I'd like to know where that info came from if you ever run across it again please leave it on my site. Nothing has been surprising me since I've started digging on stuff.

"We know that he has stored away secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." Al Gore, 9/23/02 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002. I could go on, but I don't believe it's necessary - there are dozens more just like this...

"I also have noticed no more nerve gas has killed any more civilians over there since our troops landed. When I stated that they were everywhere I meant terrorist not WMD's I really think he had a few items that he shipped on over to Syria or Iran when our troops were coming."

Of course, one should go back a little farther and examine the negotiations during the Reagan administration culminating in Bechtel constructing one of the largest chemical plants in the Middle East right outside of Baghdad during a time when Hussein was using chemical weapons on the Iranians and the Kurds. The last American technicians didn't leave this plant until the beginning of the first Gulf War.

Who conducted those negotiations, you ask? Donald Rumsfeld.

So, if they thought there might be chemical weapons in Iraq, they had good reason to. Who would know about them better than the country that helped Iraq to produce them?

And now you know ... the rest of the story ...

Last comment for me too. This is cold and mean (I'll admit that), but let them kill each other. None of them want our help anyway.
