RALEIGH, N.C. — Much of the state is under freeze warnings and frost advisories until late Monday morning, and coats will be a necessity.
Freeze warning
Multiple counties west of the Triangle are under a freeze warning, including Alamance, Chatham, Lee, Moore, Orange and Person. Wake, Durham Harnett and Johnston counties are under a frost advisory.

During a frost advisory or freeze warning, animals and some plants should be moved indoors. Low temperatures could range between 33 and 36 degrees in counties with a frost advisory, and temperatures could fall below 32 degrees where there is a freeze warning. All advisories expire by 10 a.m.

Temperatures were in the mid 30s early Monday morning, and, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, in Raleigh we can expect temperatures in the 40s by 9 a.m. and the 50s by noon. The high for Monday is 62 degrees.

Current Temperatures, DMA

Tuesday will be warmer than Monday, with highs in the low 70s. Temperatures will get cooler again mid-week, with highs in the 60s for Wednesday and the 50s for Thursday and Friday.

7-Day Forecast

Despite the cold, the week should be mainly sunny, with little to no rain expected until the weekend.
