Employees at the Amazon distribution center in Garner were evacuated early Sunday morning when a fire broke out at the facility.

The Garner Fire Department said a cardboard compactor attached to building started the fire. A spokesperson with Amazon said smoke entered the first floor of the facility.

The fire department said smoke removal took about four hours.
