CLAYTON, N.C. — Over a dozen cars caught fire Wednesday night at a Johnston County salvage yard.

Firefighters responded to a fire at a large salvage yard on U.S. 70 and Sadisco Road between Wilson’s Mills and Clayton.

The Wilson Mill’s fire chief said the fire was under control in under 40 minutes, adding that 16 vehicles burned.

The facility stores as many as 10,000 used cars and trucks at a time.
