BENSON, N.C. — A fourth person involved in a fiery crash on Interstate 40 in Johnston County two months ago has died, authorities said.

Sherry Thomas Allen, 69, of Four Oaks, died Oct. 2.

On Aug. 29, an eastbound flatbed truck slammed into the back of a line of traffic near mile marker 319 that had slowed because of an earlier crash, authorities said.

Michael Anthony Peters, 64, of Youngsville, and H. McRoy Skipper Jr., and his wife, Jo Skipper, both of South Carolina, were killed in the chain-reaction crash.

The truck driver, William Van Oneal, 61, has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. There was no immediate word about a fourth charge being filed in connection with Allen's death.
