Fayetteville woman killed in head-on crash Wednesday

A crash on Wednesday killed one person in Fayetteville. According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the crash happened around 5:07 p.m. around Ramsey Street and Peace Street.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A crash on Wednesday killed one person in Fayetteville.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the crash happened around 5:07 p.m. around Ramsey Street and Peace Street.

Police said a white 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 72-year-old Wilburn Bell, was traveling north on Ramsey Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2003 gold Hyundai Elantra operated by 72-year-old Wanda Eldridge.

EMS took Eldridge to a local hospital, where she later died.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Officer J. Smith at 910-987-4510.
