A teacher at East Garner Middle School has been suspended after he was charged with sexual battery.



According to the Wake County Public School System, Elier Gonzalez, 43, who works as a spanish teacher, has been suspended.

Gonzalez was charged Wednesday with sexual battery in Garner. He has worked at the school since August 2022.

WRAL News has contacted the Garner Police Department for more information.
