East Cary Magnet Middle School students released after hour-long lockdown
East Cary Magnet Middle School was on lockdown due to nearby police activity, the district said. All students are safe.

All students are safe, according to the school district.
Around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, the school at 1111 Southeast Maynard Road went on lockdown. The school was supposed to dismiss at 3 p.m. Thursday.
The district said a car crash in front of the school made dismissal even more complicated.
East Cary Magnet Middle School was on a code yellow lockdown. It means all exterior doors of the school were locked and no one was allowed to enter or exit the building. In code yellow, students are allowed to move between classrooms, and the school operates "business as usual" with the exception of any outside activities.
