According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Shiquan McRae bought a $3 ticket and won $100,000.
McRae matched four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. After hitting the 2x multiplier, McRae doubled his winnings.
On Tuesday, McRae arrived at lottery headquarters and took home $71,501 after required state and federal taxes.
The jackpot for the Powerball lottery drawing on Wednesday stands at $559 million or $273.3 million in cash.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
