RALEIGH, N.C. — A man is in custody after leading troopers on a chase that reached triple digits on I-40 on Thursday morning.

Highway patrol says the incident started on I-40 near the Rock Quarry overpass when a trooper clocked a car going 92 mph in a 65 zone.

The chase didn't last long, but the driver led police along I-87 before taking the exit onto Poole Road going over 100 mph.

The driver lost control on the ramp, went off the side of the road and crashed into the trees -- but the chase didn't end there. Troopers say he jumped from the car and ran away. Raleigh police used search dogs to search for him, and he was taken into custody.

The driver is facing several felony charges and a DWI.
