GOLDSTON, N.C. — A deputy with the Chatham County Sheriff's Office was injured Sunday while serving an arrest warrant.

The deputy suffered a minor head injury and a cut on her hand while attempting to serve a suspect four orders for arrest for failure to appear in court.

According to the sheriff's office, the injuries occurred when the suspect, Brandon Thomas Hill, 30, of Goldston, resisted arrest. Hills' elbow made contact with the deputy's head, officials said.

The deputy’s injuries were not serious, and she is expected to make a full recovery. Two other deputies were there with her, officials said.

Hill was arrested at the scene and issued a $10,000 secured bond. A court date was scheduled for March 26.

Additionally, Hill faces charges of one count of felony assault resulting in physical injury to a law enforcement/probation/parole officer and a misdemeanor charge of resisting a public officer.

For those charges, Hill was held on a 48-hour hold and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on March 18.

“The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring the safety of our deputies and the community at large,” said Sheriff Mike Roberson. “There is absolutely no justification for any assault on an officer carrying out their duties. We condemn such actions in the strongest terms possible and we will pursue appropriate legal action to hold fully accountable those responsible for such assaults.”
