Death investigation underway after man found dead in Goldsboro

At approximately 2:25 a.m., officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 500 block of Stronach Avenue for a welfare check. A man was found unresponsive at the scene.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A death investigation is underway after a man was found dead Monday morning in Goldsboro.

At approximately 2:25 a.m., officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 500 block of Stronach Avenue for a welfare check. A man was found unresponsive at the scene. Officers administered CPR while requesting Emergency Medical Services. EMS continued lifesaving measures upon arrival. However, the man was pronounced dead at 2:58 a.m.

The man has been identified as 57-year-old Theodis Herring.

The investigation is ongoing. No foul play is suspected at this time.

The case will be updated upon findings from the Medical Examiner.
