The call came in around 2:48 a.m. after a crash on Capital Blvd. directly across from Family Dollar and K&G Fashion.

One person left the scene after the crash, but it's not clear whether it was a driver or a passenger.

At least one person was at the scene with his dog after the crash.

There were three police cruisers, a fire truck and an ambulance.

According to Highway Patrol, the crash was the result of a chase that started in Harnett County and ended on North Bragg Boulevard and Mckenzie Road in Spring Lake.

According to the Danville Police Department, officers received a tip of prior animal abuse at a pet grooming store on Hairston Street in Danville. In the complaint, a video showed the employee, identified as 22-year-old Cassidy Gill, striking a dog in January and February. The video in the complaint was shared with other social media accounts, including PETA.
