A 76 year old shopper in Illinois was arrested last week after a Walmart employee refused to accept his coupon (valid only online) so he allegedly hit the employee!

According to CouponsInTheNews.com, the police report indicates that the employee believed the customer “was trying to throw the coupon at him but actually struck him on the right side of his face" while he was being escorted out of the Walmart.

The shopper was given a ticket for disorderly conduct and will have to go to court to deal with it since he refused to sign the ticket. There could even be some jail time involved, apparently.

All that because the store would not accept a 10% off coupon that was only valid online. I can't imagine what is going on in this man's life that he would get that irate over an invalid coupon. It's actually quite sad when you think about it.

Consider this your friendly reminder to read the fine print on coupons... and not hit cashiers when they won't take your invalid coupon.

That is your public service announcement of the day.
