Clinton man killed in fiery Sampson County crash

A 24-year-old man named Jarod Michael Parker died after the 2018 Honda Accord he was driving crashed into a tree just south of Clinton, the Highway Patrol said.

CLINTON, N.C. — A Clinton man died Wednesday after a deadly crash along West Main Street and Overland Road just south of Clinton.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Jarod Michael Parker. He was 24.

The Highway Patrol said a 2018 Honda Accord caught fire after the crash around 12:07 p.m. Wednesday. The car was heading west on West Main Street at a high rate of speed when it ran off the road to the right in a sharp curve and struck a tree, according to the Highway Patrol.

After the car caught fire, it burnt the front of the car with the driver inside, according to the Highway Patrol.

Wednesday's crash was Sampson County's fourth fatal collision this year.
