CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The winter storm Sunday caused a lot of problems across the Triangle, but some people stepped up to others out.

"It is easy to get stuck because this is heavy stuff," Matt Newton said as he dug a vehicle out of the snow in Chapel Hill where it had gotten stuck. "I have helped four so far just driving around."

Newton didn’t know any of the drivers he found in trouble.

"I am used to driving in it," the former Chicago resident said. "You just have to take the shovel, clear out the front tires and get them on their way."
