SAN DIEGO — A Panther Creek High School graduate is serving on the Navy's newest warship.

Fireman Noah Lamberty, a native of Cary, serves aboard USS John L. Canley. He graduated from Panther Creek High School in 2022 and joined the Navy the same year.

Lamberty said the skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those he learned about while growing up in Cary.

“I played a lot of sports growing up and was in that teamwork environment constantly,” said Lamberty. “I’d say the teamwork aspect helped a lot. It’s like a family on the ship. When I played football, the team was my family and it’s the same dynamic in the Navy, the people on the ship are your family. If someone needs you, you go help them.”

Lamberty has goals of going to college and studying aviation.

“I wasn’t the best at school but I wanted to be financially independent and be successful without having to go to college and I thought the Navy would be a good way to do it,” said Lamberty. “I still want to go to college to study aviation maintenance.”
