KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The North Carolina Research Campus and WRAL Local Tech Wire are teaming up to provide a preview of the rapidly progressing project now being built in Kannapolis.
The LTW Exchange networking event is set for Thursday, May 15, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Old Cabarrus Bank Building adjacent to the campus.
Billionaire David Murdock is building the life-sciences and biotech research center, and the first buildings will be opening this year. The UNC System and Duke University are partners in the project. Red Hat and Pharmaceutical Product Development also plan to have operations at the campus along with several other private-sector firms.
Lynne Scott Safrit, president of Castle & Cooke N.C., will provide an update on progress of the 350-acre project. Castle & Cooke is building the campus.
Clyde Higgs, vice president of business development for the research campus, will discuss businesses and other partners who are locating to the complex.
