RALEIGH, N.C. — Atlantic Ave. opens back up Saturday after closure for several hours due to a gas leak caused by a contractor.
Officials say a contractor hitting a line caused the leak that closed Atlantic Avenue between New Hope Church Road and Highwoods Boulevard.
The commander on scene told WRAL news that a crew digging a trench hit a gas line.
He says he believes that it is a third-party crew.
They were waiting for Dominion Energy to show up and take over the scene.
According to the commander, the issue has been solved.
