Another round of severe weather: Duke Energy prepares for more fallen trees, power outages

While some locals are cleaning up debris and fallen trees, Friday brings more potential for damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and localized flooding.

WRAL spoke with Jeff Brooks from Duke Energy, who says it’s unusual to see multiple level 3 risk storms in one week during this time of year.

People whose homes were damaged like this one on are working to make repairs fast, racing to get the job done before storms come again tonight.

“I’m so lucky to be alive,” Leila Jabbar said. “It’s just stuff, but I’m amazed I survived this.”

With another round of storms on the way, neighbors who just cleaned up are getting ready to do it all again.

Brooks says now’s the time to clean up any debris left in your yard.

"When we think about what we do, we try to clean up our system to make sure that there's not things leftover that can cause future outages," said Brooks. "Same thing's true in your yard."

Brooks says their biggest concern are fallen trees – especially trees that may have been damaged earlier this week and didn’t fall, which could be dealt the final blow by tonight's storms and finally fall over.
