4-year-old in home during Dudley shooting

DUDLEY, N.C. — A Dudley man was charged with attempted murder after authorities say he shot a man multiple times Monday night.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting 8:14 p.m. Monday at 214 Blue Ridge Drive in Dudley.

The sheriff’s office said Nakia Lequan Atkins, 20, was on the home’s front porch with his hands up when deputies arrived.

Deputies found Ronaza Earl Bunn, 43, inside with multiple gunshot wounds.

A man, woman and 4-year-old were also inside the home when the shooting occurred.

The man and woman told deputies that multiple individuals were shot at, although only Bunn was hit.

Atkins was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.

He was held in the Wayne County jail on a $600,000 bond.
