30-year-old charged in connection with Atlantic Avenue juvenile shooting

A young male was shot Thursday off Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of a juvenile Thursday near Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the shooting occurred before 10:30 a.m. near an apartment complex on Otters Run Court, close to where Atlantic Avenue intersects with Spring Forest Road.

A young male suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. His name and age were not provided.

By late afternoon, police arrested Travarus Ramon Calhoun and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Crime scene tape surrounded the parking lot, and at least two shell casings were discovered at the scene.

There is no threat to the public, according to police.
