Shooting in Red Springs leaves multiple injured, including 6-month-old

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — Multiple people, including a 6-month-old baby, were shot in Red Springs on Friday near the intersection of Pearsall Road and Children's Road.

According to Red Springs Interim Chief Sarah Purcell, around 3:05 p.m., individuals arrived at the police department seeking help for a gunshot wound victim - an infant - that was shot on the 200 block of Children's Road in the county.

An investigation spanning two locations connected a shooting to a prior incident involving multiple gunshot victims.

According to deputies, Kyle Jones, 27, was found dead at the scene. Dakota Lambert, 26, had gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital.

The infant was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office is processing the vehicle used to take the infant to the police station as evidence.

Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins confirmed a death investigation is underway with deputies. Homicide and crime scene investigators were on the scene.

The case in still under investigation.
