2 charged in death of woman found on NC 902 in Chatham County

Two people have been charged in the death of a woman found along the roadside on N.C. Highway 902 in Chatham County.

PITTSBORO, N.C. — Two people have been charged in the death of a woman found along the roadside on N.C. Highway 902 in Chatham County.

On Monday around 2:45 a.m., the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office found Michelle Nichole Jenks, 33, of Siler City, unconscious in the 7700 block of N.C. 902.

Jenks was transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she was later pronounced dead.

Terrie Fields, 39, and Corey Rives, 37, both of Bear Creek, were charged soon after.

Fields was charged with one count of felony second-degree murder and one count of felony possession of a firearm by a felon. She was jailed without bond.

Rives was charged with one count of felony accessory after the fact. His bond was set at $41,500.00.

The sheriff's office said there is no threat to the public. Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-542-2911.
