RALEIGH, N.C. — Are you one of the many who have cable and a streaming service?

The concern is not wanting to lose any channels, right?

5 On Your Side's Monica Laliberte says the answer is to figure out which services provide the desired content.

Netflix and Hulu are all the rage in streaming services, but there's also Disney+ and Apple TV+.

It used to be that replacing cable with a streaming service could save lots of money. That's not always the case.

"You have to take into account everything from the TV shows you want, the cost of the different services, the cost of broadband, is it gonna go up a lot more if you debundle it from a package,” said Jim Wilcox with Consumer Reports.

What can a confused consumer do if one really wants to drop cable?

Purchase an antenna to get local stations, such as WRAL.

Beyond that, figure out the shows the family needs, then see which services provide them at the lowest cost.

Websites like reelgood.com can help with where many shows and movies are available for streaming.

If you've switched to streaming apps or have a smart TV, make sure to install the WRAL app. There you will find live newscasts, live, breaking news video throughout the day, and our archive of programming like 5 On Your Side, Tar Heel Traveler and WRAL documentaries.
