Rocky Mount police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a car crash early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a crash around 12:30 am. on the 600 block of N. Wesleyan Blvd.

Upon arrival, they found 19-year-old Dcorius Wilkins suffering from an accidental gunshot wound that took place during the crash.

Wilkins was transported to UNC Health Nash for treatment, but later died.

This case is still under investigation by the Rocky Mount Criminal Investigations Division.
