Raleigh's first taco bike hits streets this weekend
El Taco Cartel, Raleigh's first taco bike, will hit the streets for the first time on Sunday.

It's been a long road for the taco bike, which has been in development for more than a year. Investor Justin Miller, who is the founder of the popular WedPics app, said creating the bike itself was a tough task. The bike needed to be able to keep the tacos hot, be able to be cleaned and not weigh too much.
"Nothing like this existed, so there were no references," Miller said.
After failed development attempts, the bike now has a more streamlined design and incorporates a more Russian nesting doll style, so pieces from the taco box can be removed and cleaned much easier. The bike weighs about a third of the original prototype, Miller said.
"It's been a whirlwind of emotions. Up and down," Miller said.
After recently receiving permits to operate, the crew decided National Tequila Day was the best day to hit the streets.
