GARNER, N.C. — American Idol winner and Garner native Scotty McCreery took a break from recording his new record in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday to make a wish come true for 18-year-old Courtney Moss.
The singer visited Moss on behalf of Make-a-Wish Eastern North Carolina, which is sending Moss and her family to Los Angeles next week for the American Idol finale. Moss, who lives in Nash County, has a cardiac condition and received a heart transplant at Duke Hospital on her 18th birthday in August.

The star met Moss at Timber Drive Elementary in Garner, his old school. While there, he delivered a surprise to fifth-graders as he sang along with the chorus during their concert.

Courtney's wish is one of more than 200 that will be granted this year. To learn how you can help, visit Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina online.
Scotty McCreery will perform in Charlotte and Raleigh in July. Visit his website for the latest information on his tour.
